Private School Admissions 2023: Timeline and Tips

As summer approaches, so does admissions season! As you start to consider the many premier private schools in San Diego,  it is important to consider what the admissions timeline looks like, especially if this is the first time you’re having a child apply to a private school. Click here to review our admissions info sheet for more details on the timeline.

You also might be curious about what materials you will need to submit for your child’s application. In addition to a general application, most schools require Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) scores, short answers responses to application prompts, a student and/or parent interview, transcripts, graded writing samples, and teacher recommendations. You can find more details on the test and requirements here.

Each student’s path to success will look different, meaning there is no timeline that will fit all private school applicants. But La Jolla Learning is here to help! We recommend signing up for sessions over summer so that you will have more flexibility in your child’s overall application process. Having multiple times to attempt the ISEE, draft and revise application essays, and prepare for interviews will ensure that your child has the best possible chance to get into the private school that will be best suited for them.
